Welcome to My Smith Hill
In the summer of 2011, Roger Williams National Memorial partnered with the Smith Hill YouthRAP program to engage ten teen residents from Smith Hill in an exploration of our neighborhood and the community at large. Through a summer youth employment program, funded through the National Park Service’s Youth Partnership Program, we learned about Roger Williams, the beliefs of freedom and liberty he put into practice at what is now the site of the National Memorial, and how his legacy influences our lives today. Please join us on a walking tour that will take you on a journey through centuries of urban development, immigration, and the creation of a unique identity.
